.XYZ has announced the acquisition of a portfolio of new generic top-level domains from Dominion Domains. It includes the .autos, .homes, .boats, .yachts, and .motorcycles domains. In all these domain zones, a limited registration model was initially introduced. This model assumed that registrants needed to prove their affiliation with the industry associated with the domain name. It also provided for a fairly high fee paid by the registrar for the right to register names in the domain zone. All this led to the fact that the launches were not very successful: in all domains, except .homes, today there are less than 1000 registered names.

.XYZ plans to restart its domains next year. .XYZ founder Daniel Negari, commenting on the deal to Domain Name Wire, said: “2021 will be the most important year for us. We look forward to launching or relaunching 10 great domains that will expand choices for users around the world. ” It is worth noting that this summer, the .XYZ registry has already acquired the .car, .cars and .auto domains. Thus, today the company owns new generic top-level domains, thematically related to most of the large and expensive purchases. This opens up quite interesting prospects, but only time will tell how the fate of these domains will develop.
