THE .UZ DOMAIN ZONE IS 30 YEARS OLD!
On April 29, 1995, the top-level domain ".UZ" was created and delegated for the first time. To mark this milestone, UZINFOCOM organized a special event attended by representatives of government agencies, IT companies, internet providers, and .UZ domain registrars.
Among the speakers were representatives of prestigious international organizations:
- ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers)
- H3C Technologies (a global provider of digital infrastructure solutions)
- RIPE NCC (Regional Internet Registry covering Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia)
- APTLD (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association)
- UNESCO, as well as representatives of major national domain registries such as .AZ (Azerbaijan), .AM (Armenia), .BY (Belarus), .IN (India), .KG (Kyrgyzstan), .KZ (Kazakhstan), and .RU/.РФ (Russia).
The event program featured thematic panel sessions where guests discussed key digital trends and challenges of the global network, the latest security solutions, the implementation of new protocols and technologies, strategies for promoting domain and hosting services, as well as domain auctions and the use of AI, blockchain, and NFTs in the internet ecosystem.
A significant highlight of the event was the launch of IPv6 support in the national domain zone .UZ — a crucial step toward modernizing the country’s network infrastructure.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed between UZINFOCOM (.UZ) and the Kazakh Network Information Center KazNIC (.KZ), aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives in domain management and internet infrastructure development.
