The .UZ Domain Administration Presented NFT Certificate Technology for Domain Names at ArmIGF 2024.
On November 5, 2024, the .UZ domain administration participated in the Internet Governance Forum (ArmIGF) held in Armenia, one of the largest regional platforms for discussing Internet governance issues. ArmIGF annually brings together representatives from the public, civic, and private sectors to discuss key issues related to Internet governance, share information, and exchange best practices aimed at expanding Internet opportunities, countering risks and challenges, as well as increasing general understanding and addressing current issues.
At the forum, representatives of the .UZ domain administration spoke at a session dedicated to ccTLDs (country-code top-level domains) and presented an innovative project introducing NFT certificates for domain names. An NFT certificate is a digital certificate that confirms the right to a domain name, granting the domain owner exclusive rights to use the domain throughout the registration period. This technology creates a digital footprint in the blockchain, linking the domain name to its owner, ensuring security and legal protection.
The .UZ domain administration will continue to actively implement the latest technologies to ensure the security and stability of the domain system, contributing to the development of Uzbekistan’s digital economy and strengthening its position on the international stage.
